Parish Chairman’s Notes December 2024
On the 30th October, a survey of the Village Hall was conducted at the request of the CCAA to ensure it was capable of renovation. With the failure of the heating system and the frequent water leaks during rainy weather it has become urgent to map a way forward to ensure all users will be able to access the hall safely and in comfort. When the results of the survey are available, the parish council will be deciding how to proceed in consultation with the CCA. At the time of writing an extraordinary meeting of the council was due to be held on 13th November, the results of which will be included in next month’s report.
By the time this article is read, work should have been completed on the outdoor gym in the old under-fives play area. Readers will remember that the parish council secured a grant from the FCC Community Foundation to pay for the equipment and installation. Plans are also underway to provide two picnic tables between the MUGA and the play area. Thanks are due to those involved with the Friends of Five Oak Green Recreation Ground. The charity has now disbanded, but the remaining money in its account will provide most of the finance for the benches, which we intend to install before the spring.
Capel Parish Council and Save Capel were due to be represented at the Additional Hearing Sessions into the Local Plan on 14th November. The Parish Council’s submissions can be read at www.capelparish.gov.uk or on the TWBC website where you can see all the submissions: https://tunbridgewells.gov.uk/planning/planning-policy/local-plan/making-representations-and-next-steps/representations
The Chair of the Parish Council was due to lay a wreath on behalf of the Capel Parish Council and the community at the Memorial Cottages Brampton Bank on Remembrance Sunday, 10th November.
There is still one vacancy on the parish council following the elections in the spring. If you would like to fill the role or know someone who does – please contact Louise Goldsmith, our Clark and Parish Manager for more details: clerk@capelparish.gov.uk
This is a co-opted position, and no election will be necessary. |
The Carols on the Green will take place on 22nd December at 3:30 – all welcome to this community event for which the parish council has secured the usual road closure. We owe a big thank you to the Capel Group who will once again be supplying and installing the Christmas tree on the Village Green this year.
Capel Parish Council would like to wish all our residents a happy and joyful Christmastide!
Hugh Patterson
