Parish Chairman’s Notes August 2021

As you will know from last month’s article, the Parish Manager and Clerk, Maddy Boyle is leaving us at the end of July to pursue a career in education. We are pleased to announce that Louise Goldsmith has been appointed to replace her from 26th July. This will allow a week for a handover and for Louise to attend the parish council meeting on that day. Louise has a long career in local government and as a clerk is looking forward to starting in her new post.

We are also pleased to have co-opted Will Malpas as a councillor. This fills the vacancy that remained after the election on May 6th. Will’s family moved to the parish last year and we wish him all the very best for his career on the council.

The workshop on the Neighbourhood Plan run by our consultants, Alison Eardley Associates will be taking place on August 3rd (having been postponed from June because of the continuing Covid regulations). The costs of the workshop will be funded by the Parish Council directly. This will allow the Neighbourhood Plan to formulate its strategy for putting together the document over the next few months. For the time being we are pursuing a ‘Plan A’ which assumes that the Tunbridge Wells Local Plan proposals for Tudeley and East Capel are not adopted. The NP has also been awarded funding by the government agency ‘Locality’ and we are taking advice on a Housing Needs Survey.

The ceremony to mark the centenary of the Memorial Cottages at Brampton Bank will take place on Sunday 15th August at 1pm. We hope to be free of Covid restrictions, but space and parking will be restricted. Please contact the clerk@capelparish.gov.uk if you would like to attend.

On 5th July, the Clerk started a survey on Electric Vehicle charging points in the Village Hall carpark on social media. If you missed it or are not on Facebook and have views about this, you can contact us at clerk@capelparish.gov.uk
